Dementia Research Leaders Awards 2016

Alzheimer’s Society is delighted to launch the 2016 Dementia Research Leaders awards, which recognise the contribution that early and mid-career researchers make to dementia research and people affected by dementia.

The awards will be presented at the Gala dinner at the Research conference, 30th June 2016.

Winners of the prize will receive £1,000 to put towards their career development over the next year.

The nominations close at 5 pm on Friday May 13th

What will the awards recognise?

The Alzheimer’s Society’s Dementia Research Leaders programme provides funding and development opportunities for people from biomedical, clinical and social science backgrounds from the start of a career in research through to establishing themselves as independent investigators.

The awards are to recognise the contributions and impact of researchers within the remit of the programme to dementia research.

Categories

There are two categories that people can be nominated for. Nominees do not have to be funded by Alzheimer’s Society.

  • Rising Star in Dementia Research 

This award will recognise researchers in the earlier stages of their careers who have already made great progress in dementia research and have the potential to contribute much more to the field in the future.

Eligibility criteria: People who are currently undertaking a PhD or postdoctoral researchers who completed their PhD within the last three years are eligible for this category.

  • Leader in Dementia Research

This award recognises researchers who are more established and have already undertaken important research that promises to improve the lives of people affected by dementia and who are likely to show great progress in the field in the future.

Eligibility criteria: This award is open to postdoctoral researchers, junior and senior fellows and those at lecturer level who completed their PhD between three and ten years ago.

Please note: Previous winners and runners up are not eligible for this year’s awards. However, previous nominees are welcome to submit an application.

Nominations

Candidates can self-nominate for the award or can be nominated by their supervisors or colleagues or by members of the Research Network.
